About Arts in Society
Arts in Society is a collaborative grant-making program that fosters cross-sector work through the arts by supporting the integration of arts and culture into multiple disciplines critical to the health and well-being of Coloradans. Since 2017, the program has distributed over $4 million to fund 222 projects across the state that incorporate arts and creativity in addressing some our communities' most important problems.
Today, we recognize that Colorado is facing new and evolving challenges. The continued effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, social and economic unrest, and uncertain futures are affecting all Coloradans. This includes our state's residents, artists, businesses, and non-profit organizations. We also recognize that art and creativity have always played a role at the front line of any emergency, and that funding for cross-sector work through the arts has never been more important.
Arts in Society grants will provide funding to support individuals and organizations who seek to implement projects that utilize the arts as an integral element in promoting social justice and community welfare. Grants will range in size from $5,000-$35,000. Grant funds will be distributed in April. Grants will be determined by a selection panel, which seeks projects that best broaden the understanding of the role arts play in society, demonstrate cross-sector work, exhibit cultural relevancy, foster community engagement, illustrate artistic excellence, and present opportunities for shared learning. Colorado artists, activists, non-profit organizations, universities, schools, and government agencies are all eligible to apply. Previous Arts in Society grant recipients are welcome to apply.
In addition to receiving financial support, Arts in Society grantees participate in a learning community program through which they share expertise and learn with like-minded practitioners from across the state.
